Head coach of Kazakhstan U17 national team and Freedom QJ League analyst, Bauyrzhan Sagyndyk, shared his thoughts after the 2–1 victory over Croatia in the Euro-2026 qualifying round.
– First of all, I want to congratulate everyone on the victory. I want to thank the team, as well as the coaching, administrative, and medical staff for their work. We had a very productive training camp in Almaty, where we analyzed our opponents in detail and studied the strengths and weaknesses of their key players. This preparation helped us successfully implement our game plan and strategy.
Qualifying matches are always held in great conditions, everything is organized at the highest level. Our goals for these games, as always, are ambitious. From the beginning, we set ourselves high targets, because that’s my mentality: why go if not to fight for first place or a spot in the next round?
Our strategy is based on solid defense, patience, and quick counter-attacks. I wouldn’t want to single out anyone – the whole team is doing an excellent job. But this is only the first step; they still have a lot of work ahead.
The match against Croatia took a lot of energy. Now our main task is to recover the team – not only physically, but mentally. The boys are receiving a lot of attention on social media, and I don’t want that to distract them. They must stay focused on their goals and not dwell on a single victory. It’s important that such success becomes regular, not something that happens once every ten or twenty years.
We have good chances to advance from the group. That’s why we’ll keep fighting until the end in every match to reach the next stage.
