The Kazakhstan U17 national team kicked off their Euro-2026 qualifying campaign with a stunning victory.
Bauyrzhan Sagyndyk’s side sensationally beat the tournament hosts — Croatia — in their opening match.
In the 2nd minute, Kairat midfielder Islam Rakhym opened the scoring for Kazakhstan. In the 33rd minute, Croatian midfielder Juraj Frigan briefly leveled the score, but just before halftime, Shakhter’s Rasul Akimov restored the lead.
The 2–1 scoreline in favor of the visitors remained unchanged — in the second half, Luka Bartolović failed to convert a penalty.
All 25 players called up for Kazakhstan’s November U17 matches have experience playing in the Freedom QJ League.
Head coach Bauyrzhan Sagyndyk also serves as an expert analyst for the League.
The team’s next match will take place on November 14 — against the Netherlands.
