Freedom QJ League Statement on the QJL All Star Team Roster

In July 2025, official letters were sent to all clubs participating in League “A” competitions, listing the candidates for the extended roster of the QJL All Star team, which was being prepared to play against the youth team of Atlético Madrid. The League, for its part, guaranteed that if clubs agreed to release their players to the team’s camp, it would insure the players and cover all recovery expenses in the event of injuries sustained during the training camp or the match. The final roster was to be formed based on the players’ performances in July and August. In particular, the extended roster of QJL All Star included FC Kairat players Toleukhan A., Kalikulov A., Mussaipov A., Buch D., and Smakov A.

All clubs participating in the League, with the exception of FC Kairat, agreed to release their players for this traditional event and the match against the academy of a global football giant. From FC Kairat, a letter signed by the club’s General Director A. Yessimov was received, refusing to release the players. The refusal was explained by the fact that the mentioned players would be involved in FC Kairat’s training process and First League matches during the preparation period for the match. Furthermore, FC Kairat noted “the absence of any legal grounds for the League to call up players to ‘national’ teams.”

Apart from the above-mentioned case, the final team roster was compiled by the League’s sports analytics department and the QJL All Star coaching staff based solely on sporting merit. Freedom QJ League respects the decision of FC Kairat’s management and continues preparations for the QJL All Star vs. Atlético match, which will take place on August 23 at the Khan Tengri Stadium in Almaty.
