Shakhtyor striker Gleb Makridov, who became the Changan MVP of the Season, gave an interview to the Freedom QJ League website.

This year, Gleb scored 19 goals in 19 matches, falling just one goal short of the tournament’s top scorer, Daulet Orynbassar. He also delivered 10 assists.

His most productive performances came against Kaisar: in Matchweek IX he recorded 2+2, and in the return fixture of Matchweek XX he scored a hat-trick and assisted once.

In addition, Makridov set a historic record in the League’s flagship competition: 4,502 minutes played and 39 goal contributions, surpassing Kairat’s Dastan Satpayev in the latter category.

As the Changan MVP of the Season, Gleb earned the opportunity to undergo an internship at a foreign club.

– What does it feel like to become the League’s all-time leader in minutes played, goal contributions, and to be named Changan MVP of the Season?

– I wasn’t chasing records — everything came naturally, as a result of stable work and trust within the team. I’m glad I was able to help the club and that my effort was appreciated.

– What are your expectations from the internship abroad?

– A new level of football, higher demands, a different environment. I want to learn a lot and prove that I’m ready to keep growing.

– Name three key moments that shaped your three years in the League.

– Three moments I’ll remember for a long time: earning a place in the starting lineup, the match where I set my goal+assist record, and receiving the Changan MVP of the Season award.

– With which Shakhtyor teammates did you develop the strongest on-field or personal chemistry?

– I connected really well with several guys — especially Roman Assylbayev, Ruslan Beloborody, and Ilya Gezik.

– This year you also played alongside younger age-group players. Who among them would you highlight — both teammates and opponents?

– There are many talented boys. I’d highlight those who aren’t afraid to take responsibility and show character. They’ll definitely grow.

– This was your final season in the League. What comes next?

– Keep developing, make the most of the internship opportunity, and move toward the professional level.

Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout these three years — the coaches, the team, my family, and everyone who followed my journey. It means a lot.
