The gradual expansion of the Freedom QJ League involves a significant increase in the number of matches — while the schedule of the debut season included 132 games, the upcoming season will feature 542 football matches.
The key reason is that this year, for the first time, girls will take part in the League, and a new U-16 age category will be introduced for boys. The difference in the number of matches is striking even compared to last year, when 320 games were played as part of the competition.
The launch of new tournaments presents a serious logistical challenge. It’s important to note that all travel arrangements for away teams are planned, organized, and covered by the League. The same applies to accommodation. This significantly reduces expenses for participating clubs — and creates opportunities for further development of their football centers.
The statistics speak for themselves: last season, QJ League participants traveled by train 59 times, spending a total of 1,416 hours in transit. There were 155 bus trips, amounting to 930 hours on the road.
Teams traveled by air 326 times — with the total flight time amounting to just 652 hours. That’s why air travel is always the preferred option, as it allows young footballers to spend significantly less energy on the road — which means they can train, play, and recover more effectively, something especially important at this age.
In total, over 1 billion tenge was allocated last season for tickets, accommodation, and meals for teams, referees, and inspectors — and with the number of teams increasing in the upcoming season, expenses are expected to rise accordingly.
All logistical matters within the competition are managed by the League’s travel manager, Amir Yesserkepov.
«We are fully prepared for the first four matchweeks in League A and the first two in League B. The vast majority of routes involve air travel. Trains and buses were only considered when they offered greater convenience or when there was no air connection between cities. We do everything we can to ensure that teams feel as comfortable as possible during their away trips», – he noted.
A reminder: the third season kicks off this Saturday, April 19.
