Matchweek 7 of the Freedom QJ League B has concluded. Here are the most notable events of the past week.

Slip-up for KFF Academy

Kyzylzhar continue to frustrate the title contenders, earning yet another draw – this time against KFF Academy.

Stuart Hall’s team opened the scoring at home in the 67th minute – Platon Shipitsyn converted a penalty. Their narrow lead held until the end of regular time, and it seemed the hosts would take another hard-fought win at the Pele Stadium.

But everything changed in stoppage time – Daniyal Eshkeev capitalized on a corner kick and scored the equalizer. With one win, one loss and five draws, Kyzylzhar have firmly established themselves as the toughest team from the bottom half of the table.

So far, the only team to defeat Andrey Seliverstov’s side is Zhetysu from Taldykorgan – in the previous round.

Ontustik stay in the title race

Shymkent’s Ontustik seized the opportunity to stay in the title race – Andrey Vaganov’s side secured a confident win over Zhetysu at home, with goals from Oralhan Kulmurat, Kaisar Malik, and Alihan Ali. The Semirechye team managed only a consolation goal by Rakhat Duisen.

Now both top teams, Ontustik and KFF Academy, are tied on 16 points – but Ontustik lead the table on tiebreakers.

Successful week for Tamirlan Kalymzhanov

Alihan Ali remains the top player this season by goal+assist stats – 9 goals and 3 assists. But he now has serious competition.

Okzhetpes crushed Elimai 5–0, retaining their medal hopes. Midfielder Tamirlan Kalymzhanov played a direct role in three goals – he opened the scoring with a quick brace before halftime and assisted Pyotr Popadyuk in the 70th minute.

Kalymzhanov now has 9 goals – equal to Ali. In assists he slightly trails – 2 versus 3.
