The long offseason is finally over – and the highly anticipated clashes of the third Freedom QJ League season are about to begin. Here’s a preview of the Matchday 1 encounters.
Kairat vs Kaisar: Will the "Wolves" Surprise Everyone?
The Almaty side, winners of both competitions last year, face Kaisar, who finished second-to-last in both the main league and U-17 championship.
The top scorer and MVP of last season’s U-17 tournament – Daulet Orynbasar – is registered for the season, along with Abilai Toleukhan, who shined in both championship-winning squads.
Irtysh vs Aktobe: Who Will Gain the Upper Hand?
Last season, Pavlodar finished 9th in the U-17 competition, while the Red-and-Whites pushed for a top-three finish but ended up fourth.
Their 2008-born squads are evenly matched: Aktobe won at home but lost away. What will happen in this third encounter.
Caspiy vs Taraz: Will There Be Goals?
Both clubs finished side by side in the 2024 U-17 standings. Caspiy placed 7th with 24 points, while Taraz – with a better goal difference – trailed by just a point. Interestingly, both encounters last season were low-scoring – just one goal scored in two games.
Will the fans get more action this time? We’ll soon find out.
Shakhter vs Zhas Kyran: Time for Revenge
Another close matchup from last season: Karaganda and Almaty sides finished 6th and 5th, respectively, in U-17 standings. But Shakhter lost both head-to-heads – 2:3 at home and 0:3 away. Now, they seek revenge in the season opener.
Astana vs Atyrau: Not So Simple
The capital’s side, one of the dominant forces last season, will face Atyrau, who ended up bottom of the table.
The points gap was a whopping 47, but their direct meetings were tighter: Atyrau lost only 2:3 and 1:3.
Tobol vs Ordabasy: Unpredictable Battle
Last year, Ordabasy won bronze in the U-17 league and crushed Tobol 4:0 in their first meeting. However, Tobol got revenge in the penultimate round. Anything can happen in this one.
