The shortlist for the Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov Award, presented to the most valuable player of the Freedom QJ League season, has been announced.
The final three contenders for the individual honor are Alen Pak (Astana), Gleb Makridov (Shakhter), and Daulet Orynbasar (Kairat).
Alen Pak featured in 18 matches this season, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists. He recorded two hat-tricks — against Irtysh (Round 17) and Tobol (Round 20). Astana finished the season as silver medalists.
Gleb Makridov, in his third Freedom QJ League season, scored 19 goals in 19 appearances — just one short of the league’s top scorer, Daulet Orynbasar. He also registered 10 assists.
Makridov’s standout performances came against Kaisar: in Round 9, he posted 2+2, and in the reverse fixture in Round 20, he netted a hat-trick and added an assist. In addition, he set a league record for the most minutes played (4,502) and total goal contributions (39), surpassing Kairat’s Dastan Satpayev in the latter category.
Daulet Orynbasar, with 20 goals in 20 matches, became the league’s top scorer and winner of the Eustathios Pehlevanidi Award. The year before, he had been named MVP of the U17 tournament and also won the competition’s Golden Boot.
The winner will be announced during the QJ League Awards ceremony on November 1 at 18:00. The broadcast will be available on Freedom Media, which currently offers a 90-day subscription for just 5 tenge via Freedom SuperApp.
In 2023, the MVP title went to Dimash Serikuly (Taraz), while in the following season it was awarded to Kairat’s Dastan Satpayev.
Thanks to the partnership between Freedom QJ League and Changan Kazakhstan, this year’s winner will receive a grant to attend a trial with an overseas club.
