Sabina Ussen from Ordabasy has been named the Best Goalkeeper of the first-ever women’s season in Freedom QJ League.
She appeared in all 14 matchweeks, making 75 saves and conceding 22 goals. Sabina also recorded five clean sheets. The Shymkent girls’ team finished the championship in fourth place.
Winners of the individual awards — Most Valuable Player, Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder, and Best Forward — across all League tournaments will each receive 200,000 tenge in prize money from the League’s partner, Freedom Bank.
“To be honest, it’s hard to put into words how happy I was when I received this award. For me, it became one of the biggest motivations.
The season was full of unforgettable emotions. I have many goals for next year, and I will work tirelessly to achieve them.
The brightest memory of the season? The match against Irtysh — we were losing 0:1 but managed to equalize and then take the lead at the very end.
How will I spend the prize money? Honestly, I haven’t thought about it yet.
I want to congratulate the young footballers who are just taking their first steps into big football and will debut in the League next year. I wish them good luck and a great season,” Sabina shared in her interview.
