The third season of the Freedom QJ League has come to an end. Here’s a look at the key moments from the final matchweek of the U18 competition.

Astana finish second!

The central match of the round ended with a home victory for the capital team over Zhas Kyran. Alen Pak and Maksat Abraev scored for Astana, while Bekzhan Khafizov netted the only goal for the visitors — 2:1. It’s worth noting that the Almaty side played the entire second half shorthanded — Yerasyl Sansyzbai received two yellow cards in the first half.

For most of the season, Zhas Kyran were seen as the main contender for silver — they went through the first half of the season unbeaten. However, the second half was less successful, and they finished outside the top three — bronze went to Shakhter.

Long-awaited medals for the Miners

It’s worth recalling that Shakhter had stopped just short of the top three for two consecutive seasons. This time, the Karaganda side finally claimed the coveted medals — though it wasn’t easy. In the decisive match of the season, they faced Ordabasy at home. The first half ended goalless, and in the second, the visitors went ahead — Abdurakhman Orumbaev scored in the 60th minute. It seemed that Shakhter would miss out again, but in the 86th minute, Miras Kuat found the net from a Nurkhan Kagazbayev assist.

The final whistle confirmed Shakhter as third with 40 points, ahead of Zhas Kyran on the head-to-head record. Ordabasy finished sixth, behind Irtysh.

Gleb Makridov missed the match due to suspension, but the Shakhter super-sub, after three years in the Freedom QJ League, will finally receive his long-awaited medals. However, he did not manage to finish as the top scorer of the season — that honor went to another player.

Orynbasar – top scorer of the season!

Kairat confidently defeated Taraz at home, confirming their status as unbeaten champions. Daulet Orynbasar, Abylai Toleukhan, and Alamgir Smakov scored for the hosts, while Zhanserek Zheten scored the only goal for the visitors. Azizjon Berdiev could have added one more, but his penalty was saved by yellow-black goalkeeper Bakhtiyar Aldashev.

By scoring his 20th goal of the season, Daulet Orynbasar secured sole leadership in the scoring race and the Evstafiy Pekhlevanidi Award.

The individual awards ceremony — QJL Awards — will take place on November 1 in Astana, with a broadcast available on Freedom Media.

The 2008-born Kairat generation remain undefeated in the QJ League — their unbeaten run, which began during last year’s U17 tournament, now stands at 44 matches.

Irtysh – fifth

The Pavlodar side defeated Atyrau 2:1. Alimzhan Abdykalyk opened the scoring in the 17th minute. The Oilers equalized in the 35th thanks to Maksat Muratov’s penalty, but in the 69th minute, Ansar Sapargazinov sealed the final score. With this win, Irtysh rose to fifth place in the standings, overtaking Ordabasy thanks to their head-to-head record.

Tobol end on a high

The Kostanay club managed to finish the season positively, ending their seven-match losing streak. Oleg Lotov’s team beat Kaisar 2:1 — goals from Aleksandr Kozitsky and Nurmubarak Zhaksylik were enough, with the Wolves responding only through Yerasyl Asankhan. Thus, Kaisar finished last, while Tobol placed 10th. Notably, Tobol finished the game with ten men — Kuanish Kuzembayev received his second yellow card in the 82nd minute.

A loud finale for Caspiy

The Aktau team, considered one of the league’s main underdogs throughout the season, secured ninth place with a resounding home victory over Aktobe. Goals came from Alihan Zhumabay, Shakhmardan Demesin (penalty), Didar Izturgan, and Amaniyaz Oryngaliev. For the red-whites, Islam Nuradinov scored the lone goal.

It’s worth noting that Aktobe had already guaranteed eighth place before the final round — the gap to seventh-placed Taraz was 10 points.
