Evgeniy Yarovenko: “I want to support Ordabasy, the boys tried really hard”

Freedom QJ League expert analyst Evgeniy Yarovenko summed up the performance of Ordabasy’s youth team in the UEFA Youth League.

Let us recall that in the second leg of the first round, the juniors from Shymkent lost 0–2 to Dynamo Minsk (aggregate score – 1–3).

– In this game I saw two very different halves from Ordabasy. In the first half there was visible organization, structure, discipline, good interactions in transition phases – they tried to catch the opponent on counterattacks. There were good chances, but finishing let them down. Defensively they looked more or less solid and played well on set pieces in attack.

In the second half, however, their organization without the ball left much to be desired. They didn’t finish episodes to the end, especially in the case of the conceded goal. In the penalty episode, they could have acted more cleanly and reliably. There were many errors in passing during transitions, and in attack almost nothing worked.

Of course, I want to support Ordabasy, the boys really tried. But, naturally, there was very little time for preparation, unlike the opponent. And there was a lack of international experience.

What was Dynamo’s advantage? International experience, and a well-balanced team – physically and tactically prepared.
