We share the main highlights from the latest round of the girls’ competition.
Astana hold on to top spot
The central fixture of the matchweek took place at Air Arena, where the league leaders hosted Shakhter.
The hosts quickly established a comfortable advantage. Adiya Mamatrayimova opened the scoring in the 35th minute, before team captain Aliya Boranbay added a second three minutes later. However, Shakhter got back into the contest before half-time through Dariya Tulegenova. She completed her brace in the 64th minute to restore parity.
The closing stages were tense. Sofia Rybak put Astana back in front in the 85th minute, before Zhibek Marat made it 4-2 three minutes later. Shakhter forward Aleksandra Khan scored in added time to set the final score at 4-3.
Bolat Saginbayev’s side remain the only unbeaten team in the competition, with six wins and one draw from seven matches and 19 points. Shakhter, meanwhile, suffered their third consecutive defeat and sit fifth with eight points.
Kairat score ten
Kairat thrashed Kaisar 10-0 at home.
Milena Nikolenko set the tone by scoring in the opening minute and had four goals to her name by the 54th. Yelizaveta Ostertak and Zhaniya Makhash also completed braces, with one of Makhash’s goals coming from the penalty spot. Kausar Alpysbay and substitute Ayim Kurmash added one goal each.
It was already the second match this season in which the Almaty side have scored ten or more goals, having previously beaten Shakhter 11-0 in Karaganda. Oksana Kokhannaya’s team have scored 41 goals and conceded only six across seven matchweeks.
Nevertheless, Kairat remain second, one point behind Astana. Their only defeat of the season came against the capital side, who won 2-0. With seven matchweeks and another head-to-head meeting in Almaty still to come, the title race remains wide open. Kaisar suffered a fifth consecutive defeat and remain bottom of the standings with three points.
Ordabasy finally claim first victory
Arguably the biggest news of the matchweek came from Pavlodar. After recording four draws and two defeats in their opening six matches, Ordabasy finally secured their first victory by thrashing Irtysh 5-1 in Pavlodar.
Shymkent captain Diana Sitnikova scored twice, in the 25th and 70th minutes, while Aruna Nasirali also completed a brace with goals in the 45th and 58th. Balsezim Talipbay added the fifth. Valeriya Kosareva scored a consolation goal for the hosts in the 80th minute.
One statistic is particularly telling: Ordabasy had scored only ten goals across the previous six matchweeks. The Shymkent side now sit sixth with seven points, while Irtysh are seventh with four.
Aktobe earn narrow victory in Kostanay
Aktobe left Kostanay with all three points thanks to the only goal of the match, scored by Alua Kaliyeva in the seventh minute – 1-0.
It was the Red and Whites’ third victory of the season and moved them clear in third place with 11 points. Tobyl remain fourth with eight points, ahead of Shakhter only on goal difference.
