The midfielder of Borussia Mönchengladbach U-17, Piet Sautner, summed up the QJL All Star match, which he played wearing the captain's armband.
– I think we don't have much to reproach ourselves for. The opponent was strong, and besides, they are a year older than us. Physically, this match turned out to be even tougher than other games.
However, in my opinion, we stood up to the hosts perfectly, and I am still very pleased with our performance. In the end, a penalty shootout is largely a matter of luck.
Can I single out anyone from the opposing team? The player under number 7, I believe (Daulet Orynbassar), definitely caught my eye. He was very fast, and defending against him was no easy task.
But I wouldn't necessarily want to single out just one player. The entire QJL All Star team proved to be a very uncomfortable and strong opponent: they combined excellently and played well both on and off the ball.
It was a wonderful experience. If it wasn't for this match, we probably would have never found ourselves in Kazakhstan. We experienced so many great moments: we went to the mountains, rode horses, and tried archery.
But this trip was also important for us as a team as a whole. We have only been training together in this squad for two weeks, and thanks to this journey, we were able to bond well and get to know each other better.
It would have been even nicer to leave with a victory, but even without it, the trip to Kazakhstan itself was simply wonderful. The people here are very hospitable, and it's a beautiful country.
