We continue to introduce the candidates for the individual awards of the Freedom QJ League based on the results of the outgoing season.
Each award, as a reminder, is named in honor of prominent figures in Kazakh football. The award for Best Forward of the Season bears the name of Eduard Son.
Eduard Son is a veteran of Kazakh football. He began his football journey in the youth academy of Shakhtyor Karaganda under coach Serik Berdalin. In 1980, he was invited to Kairat. For his first three seasons, he played for the reserve team, and from 1983 to 1985, he represented the main squad, playing 31 matches and scoring two goals.
In 1987, he moved to Dnipro, where he spent four seasons, becoming a USSR champion and cup winner, and also playing in European competitions. In 1991, he moved to France, where he played for Gazélec and Perpignan. From 1980 to 1985, Son represented the USSR youth and U21 national teams.
In 2023, the Best Forward of the Season award went to Ramazan Bagdat from Kairat, and the following year the title was claimed by Nurdaulet Orynbassar from Taraz.
The long list for this year includes five players: Gleb Makridov (Shakhtyor), Abylay Toleukhan (Kairat), Alen Pak (Astana), Zhanali Yessenaliyev (Ordabasy), and Zhangirkhan Jankurazov (Zhas Kyran).
The winner will be announced at the QJ League Awards ceremony on November 1.
