Freedom QJ League and City Football Group have announced a football collaboration agreement to support the continued development of youth football in Kazakhstan.

Freedom QJ League is Kazakhstan’s elite youth football competition, bringing together youth teams from professional clubs and academies across the country. Launched in 2023, the League provides a high-performance environment for players, coaches and technical staff, with a strong focus on player development. The winner of the U-18 top division earns the right to represent Kazakhstan in the UEFA Youth League.

Founded in 2013, City Football Group is a global football organisation that brings together 12 clubs across four continents. Through its international network, CFG supports excellence in football operations, player development, coaching, performance, infrastructure and club leadership, while fostering the sharing of expertise and best practice across its clubs and partners.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening youth football in Kazakhstan through long-term collaboration and the exchange of expertise, with a focus on coaching, technical leadership and academy operations, physical conditioning, sports medicine, player development and scouting.

It will include academy assessments, technical workshops, the sharing of CFG football methodologies, professional development opportunities for Kazakhstani specialists across the City Football Group network, and joint football initiatives.

Rokhus Shokh, President of Freedom QJ League, said: “From the very beginning, Freedom QJ League was conceived as a comprehensive project to support the development of not only young players but also specialists. That is why a dedicated part of the program will focus on working with coaches and staff at Kazakhstani clubs.

Being able to talk directly with representatives of the world’s biggest football organizations and ask them questions is exactly the kind of professional exchange that Kazakhstani football needs today.”

Clive Reeves, Global Football Business Director at City Football Group, said: “We are excited to begin this partnership with Freedom QJ League and share the experience we have gained across our global network of clubs and academies to support the continued development of youth football in Kazakhstan. At City Football Group we know that successful player development is built on strong coaching, clear methodology and a long-term commitment.

Building on the strong foundations already in place, this collaboration is about sharing knowledge, implementing best practices and creating opportunities for coaches, technical staff and young players to thrive. We look forward to working closely with Freedom QJ League, supporting the League’s ambition to strengthen youth development and make a lasting contribution to the future of football in Kazakhstan.”

City Football Group will undertake a series of consultancy visits to Kazakhstan beginning this month, including visits to football centres across the country to assess academy infrastructure, training programmes and player development environments.
