A delegation from the Freedom QJ League, led by League President Rokhus Shokh, held a meeting with representatives of Borussia Mönchengladbach, a five-time German champion and two-time UEFA Cup winner.
The German delegation, headed by Philip Hafermann, Head of Internationalization & Brand Partnerships, arrived in Almaty for the QJL All Star match. As a reminder, on July 11, a team of talented Kazakhstani juniors will face the academy players of the Black-White-Greens at Khan-Tengri Stadium.
However, the upcoming All-Star Match is intended to be only the first step in a long-term, productive and mutually beneficial cooperation between the League and Borussia. The parties discussed the prospects for further joint work in detail.
Potential areas of future partnership include experience exchange, friendly tournaments, scouting initiatives, internships in Germany for players and coaches of the League’s participating teams, as well as the participation of Borussia specialists in training seminars held by the Sports and Analytical Unit.
In addition, the possibility of holding a return friendly match in Germany was also discussed. The League could be represented in this match by players from one of the younger age categories or by a girls’ team.
Borussia representatives carefully studied the projects implemented by Freedom Holding Corp. in Kazakhstani football – not only the League, but also Shakhter Karagandy and the Karaganda Regional Football Association (QOFA). The guests described the emerging ecosystem as one of the most promising football projects in Central Asia and confirmed their interest in long-term cooperation.
The German side separately noted the League’s high-quality work with major international brands, including Mastercard and Changan. The guests emphasized that even professional leagues in Europe could be proud of such partnership contracts.
Borussia specialists also drew attention to the large number of talented footballers from various Kazakhstani clubs who have made a name for themselves and gained international recognition in recent years. The club representatives also link these successes to the systematic work carried out by the League since 2023.
