We continue our series highlighting the awards presented by the League at the end of each season.
As a reminder, each award is named in honour of a prominent figure in Kazakhstan football. The award for the Best Referee of the Season bears the name of Alexander Kulakov.
Alexander Kulakov is a veteran of Kazakhstan football, one of the country's first FIFA referees, and a KFF match inspector. During his playing career, he represented FShM (Almaty), Elektron (Pskov), Spartak (Semey), and Revtrud (Tambov) as a goalkeeper. After retiring as a player, Alexander Alexandrovich worked at the Department of Physical Education at Kazakh State University.
He later embarked on a refereeing career that would become his life's work. He officiated around 400 matches and was named Kazakhstan's Best Referee of the Season on multiple occasions. He also served as Director of the KFF Refereeing and Inspection Department.
