The start of the new Freedom QJ League season is getting closer. Not only boys, but girls are also eagerly awaiting the competition – including Shakhter captain Saida Dyussembayeva.
Recently, Saida took part in a training camp with Kazakhstan’s WU-17 national team, which will face Moldova and Montenegro in the UEFA European Championship qualifiers. The matches will take place in Danilovgrad on April 4 and 7.
In an interview with the League’s press service, the 15-year-old midfielder spoke about her main impressions from last season, preparations for the new one, and how important it is for her to represent her country.
– During the winter break, I was preparing for the new Freedom QJ League season. And as soon as I learned about my call-up to the national team, I intensified my training.
Representing my country is a great honor, and I am very happy to be part of the team. Sometimes there is some fear, but it can be worked through. I know everyone in the squad, and I really like our team.
To be honest, I have never been abroad before. If I go to Montenegro, it will be a very important and emotional experience for me. I hope to show what I am capable of.
What do I usually think about before matches? There is always some nervousness – I mostly think about making fewer mistakes, delivering more accurate passes, following the tactics, and playing a good game. Overall, I feel confident.
The main event of last season for me was the opening match of the women’s League season against Irtysh. Of course, it was disappointing that we lost, but the excitement around that match made it very interesting to play. There was also a lot of nervousness.
This year, my goal is to approach football even more professionally, while also dedicating time to my studies. After all, I have my final school year and exams ahead.
As a captain, I aim to perform well so that my team believes in me and I meet the coach’s expectations. I want to have more positive moments, and most importantly, to stay healthy and avoid injuries.
Last season, Dyussembayeva scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 14 matches of the Freedom QJ League W. She developed strong on-field chemistry with Damira Maksat, who assisted her multiple times.
