Less than three weeks remain until the QJL All Star match against Atlético Madrid. As part of the "Talent in Action" project, the League's Sports Analytics Unit has developed special journals for the players.
These journals were created by a sports psychologist based on years of experience working with football players. They combine a proven structure, psychological depth, and ease of use.
The journals include daily sections with questions covering training goals, well-being, emotional responses, areas for improvement, gratitude, and achievements. In addition, they feature weekly and monthly sections for planning, progress chart analysis, goal setting, and strategy development. There are also columns for self-reflection and gratitude to foster a positive mindset, as well as space for setting both short-term and long-term goals.
Thus, the journals allow players to track not only their training but also their psycho-emotional state—based on monitoring physiological indicators and internal sensations.
Progress can be tracked through dedicated charts and tables that record improvements in strength, endurance, concentration, and emotional resilience.
"Each journal is like having a personal coach and psychologist in your hands. It reflects your achievements, reveals weak points, helps set goals, manage emotions, and develop a champion's mindset. This is what turns a footballer into a constantly evolving professional who skillfully controls themselves and their progress," explained SAU mental performance expert Tamara Akhmetali.
She emphasized that keeping a sports journal brings several powerful benefits. It fosters iron discipline, psychological resilience, and strong mental focus, sharpens attention and concentration, boosts confidence and motivation, and strengthens the connection between the player and the coach.
The QJL All Star match against Atlético Madrid will take place on August 23 in Almaty. Tickets are available on the Freedom Ticketon website.
