Time for New Heroes: Key Moments of Matchweek 1 in Freedom QJ League B

Here’s a look at how the opening round of Freedom QJ League B unfolded.

A stumble from the favorite

The club that won the previous two editions of Freedom QJ League B started the new season with a heavy 1–4 away defeat to Zhetisu.

Muhammedamin Baidildin led the hosts with a goal and an assist. Alikhan Diniya, Adil Amangazy, and Aibyn Dauletuly also got on the scoresheet. Ontustik’s only goal was scored by Alzair Rais.

It’s worth noting that the Shymkent side has undergone a near-complete squad overhaul. This season, only players born in 2009 or later are eligible in Freedom QJ League B, and this generational shift could make the title race far more unpredictable.

Atyrau fall in Semey

The match between Yelimay and Atyrau delivered a dramatic ending.

Vadim Saibel opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half. The game then remained quiet until stoppage time, when two quick goals followed. Sanzhar Bekenov doubled the lead, before Nurbek Amangeldi quickly pulled one back. Final score: 2–1 to Yelimay.

Okzhetpes comeback

The clash between Okzhetpes and Altay in Kokshetau turned out to be an exciting one. The visitors took the lead in the 31st minute through Amirlan Balibayev, but Petr Popadyuk responded almost immediately.

Dinmukhamed Zhakupov scored a late winner to secure victory for Okzhetpes.

Poberezhny seals it for Zhaiyk

In Almaty, Khan-Tengri lost 1–2 to Zhaiyk, with all three goals scored by the away side.

Supyan Khassanov opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, assisted by Alexey Poberezhny. However, just minutes later, Damir Zalmukanov scored an own goal to level things up.

With the match heading towards a draw, Poberezhny struck in the 87th minute to win it.

Confident start for Zhenis

Zhenis recorded an emphatic 5–0 away win over Kyzylzhar in Petropavlovsk. Amirkhan Abay scored a brace, while Ilyas Serikbayev contributed with a goal and an assist. Zhannur Maltykbay and Alikhan Amandykov (penalty) also found the net.

Notably, none of the Matchday 1 games ended in a draw. The table is evenly split between winners and losers, and the opening results promise an exciting and competitive season ahead.
