Alexander Sergeevich Ubykin is a Soviet football player, goalkeeper, Kazakh football coach, Master of Sports of the USSR.
He started playing football in his nativecity Almaty. At the age of 16, with coach Anatoly Matveevich Romko went to Pskov, where he played for three years for Electron and Mashinostroitel.
In 1972 he was drafted into the army. During these years he played for the Vyborg Zvezda, which played in the championship of the Leningrad region. He was noticed by the scouts of the Rostov army team, where he played for three years.
In the 1976 season, he returned to his native club, Kairat regained the right to compete in the elite. By 1980, Ubykin became the main goalkeeper of Kairat. For Kairat, the goalkeeper played 207 matches in the major league and 50 in the first.
Ubykin spent the 1988 season in Pavlodar, playing for Traktor, which was fighting for promotion to the first league.
He has 35 years of experience as a football coach. At different times he worked in many republican football schools and clubs, for a long time he was the goalkeeper coach of Kairat Almaty.
